ABOUT SHIELD WARRANTY
Shield Roof Warranty, Inc. is a roof warranty company that specializes in metal roofing warranties. Shield’s core principals stress a warranty that is not only good for the industry but also covers the owner of the building further than other warranties on the market. Our warranties make sure the roof design, installation and warranty all work together and help you get the metal roof you were promised!
We do not sell warranties to most roofing companies, engineers, or architects. We are extremely selective in our business partnerships. These high standards are reflective of our warranty: 40 years up to the entire initial cost of the roof. Most manufacturer warranties are far shorter, or only cover materials. We work with only the best and most qualified metal roofing professionals to make sure that your roof -and your Shield warranty – is secure.
Common Roof Warranty Problems
Typical metal roof warranties have a few common problems:
- Labor is not included. You’re covered for materials, but no one is obligated to actually install new ones. So how does it get fixed? You (the owner) pay again for the labor, this expense is much greater than the material and can be an overwhelming expense.
- Manufacturer warranties are inspected by manufacturer reps. You have a person inspecting the roof that works for the people who sold the materials. What could possibly go wrong? Chances are, that inspector has a vested interest in not accepting your warranty claim. As a third party, Shield has no such interest. Our third party inspectors are paid by us – not by your manufacturer – to make sure installation is up to spec before the job is done.
- No Warranty follow-up. Water tightness is a major issue for metal roofing, and a big focus of warranties. Currently manufacturers sign these warranties, deliver them to the owner, and then cross their fingers. At Shield, the contractor is responsible for any and all leaks for the first 5 years after job completion. Shield performs an inspection each year during this time to check for leaks.
- Any contractor who pays for the materials gets a “Warranty”.This does not happen at Shield. Because we do not supply materials, we only choose contractors and suppliers we trust. If you are a contractor who does bad work, you don’t get a Shield warranty. If you are an architect or engineer whose design is unsound, you don’t get a Shield warranty. We answer to the owner, not the contractor, manufacturer, or designer, so our warranty serves their interests. Owners who work with Shield get what they want: a high-quality metal roof that lasts well beyond our 40-year warranty.
The Shield Guarantee
- The Shield Roof Warranty, Inc. warranty guarantees 40 years of water tightness. With this warranty come Shield representative inspections, both during and five years post-job.
- The roofing contractor is also held responsible for five years. This puts the contractor, designer and Shield on a team to make sure you, the owner, have a top of the line product.
- For the next 35 years of the warranty, Shield is at your disposal for any and all questions or concerns. We will be the first on site to make sure your issues are handled with care.
